It gives the foundation for domestic violence-informed practice by focusing on cross-cutting themes\, pattern-based approach and survivor strengths. The presentation provides participants with: \n\nInformation about creating a domestic violence-informed child welfare system.\nPrinciples and components of the Safe & Together Model.\nInformation about the framework behind competency-building in child welfare around domestic violence.\n\nObjectives \n\nTo introduce a perpetrator pattern framework.\nTo introduce and understand the Safe & Together Model principles and components and how those guide practice in various roles.\nTo introduce how to use the Safe & Together Model as a way to enhance good practice in various roles.\nTo share information about the range of activities and offerings from the Safe & Together Institute.\n\nKey Topics \n\nCross-cutting themes\nPerpetrator pattern-based approach\nDomestic violence-informed documentation\nHolistic assessment of survivor strengths\n\nTarget Audience \n\nGender-based violence professionals (domestic violence shelters\, domestic violence services\, sexual assault centres)\nChild welfare professionals\nLaw enforcement\nAttorneys\nGuardians ad litem\nCommunity service providers\nMental health providers\nBatterer intervention providers\nSubstance abuse providers and others are welcome to attend\n\nCancellation Policy \nYou may request to cancel your registration for a refund minus a 10% administrative fee up to 10 business days before the event. Download the flier with details here. \nTraining Details \nThis 4-day training session is designed to help participants be more successful in their work\, to be in better alignment with their values as family-serving professionals and how to ideally keep children safe and together with the domestic violence survivor. \nPretest \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email that contains a link to a PRETEST. The multiple-choice questionnaire will only take up to 10 minutes. We ask that you complete it to the best of your ability BEFORE arriving to your first training day. The questions may seem specific\, but please read each question carefully and select the answers that seem best or in a way that best matches your own practice. This pretest is meant to begin the learning process and your score will NOT affect your participation or certificate in any way. \nQuestions \nKathryn Boyce\, PATHS Project Coordinator paths.projects@sasktel.net \nAbout Safe & Together™ Model CORE Training\nSafe & Together Institute’s CORE Training is designed to provide a skills-oriented foundation for domestic violence-informed practice. Each day of training provides experiential classroom training focused on the following foundational practice areas: \n\nDay 1 Assessment\nDay 2 Interviewing\nDay 3 Documentation\nDay 4 Case Planning\n\nCORE Training explores the importance of: \n\nIdentifying the impact of domestic violence on children and family functioning\nFact-based assessment of the perpetrators’ behavior patterns\nPartnering with adult survivors of domestic violence\nIntervening with perpetrators\nHow domestic violence intersects with other issues like substance abuse and mental health\n\nParticipants of the CORE Training will: \n\nLearn to use practice tools\, such as Mapping Perpetrators’ Patterns and Multiple Pathways to Harm that can be implemented right away to improve assessment of risk\, impact on children\, survivor protective efforts and essential case decisions.\nPractice interviewing perpetrators\, survivors and children through modeling\, role play and videos.\nImprove their domestic violence-informed documentation through individual and group exercises.\nDiscuss their own current or past cases and explore how the Safe & Together Model could be implemented.\n\nAlso included in CORE Training: \n\nPlans will be developed by participants to support the implementation of the Model to improve their day-to-day practice and to influence their communities and family service systems to become more domestic violence-informed.\nParticipants will complete a pre- and posttest to reflect learning\, as well as a training evaluation.\nParticipants who attend all four days and take the posttest will receive a certificate of completion\, which indicates they participated in 22 training hours.\nParticipants who complete all four days and score an 80% or higher on the CORE Training posttest will meet one of the prerequisites to become a Safe & Together Model Certified Trainer.\n\nTarget Audience \n\nGender-based violence professionals (domestic violence shelters\, domestic violence services\, sexual assault centres)\nChild Welfare Practitioners\nSubstance Abuse Treatment\, Mental Health and other community service providers\nBatterer Intervention or Men’s Behavior Change staff\nCourt and Legal Personnel\nLaw Enforcement\nHealth and Home Visitors\nAnyone working with families impacted by domestic violence\n\nGroup Size \n\nThis training has a maximum of 40 participants.\n\nCancellation Policy \nYou may request to cancel your registration for a refund minus a 10% administrative fee up to 10 business days before the event.
