Introducing the Saskatchewan Common Assessment Protocol for Intimate Partner Violence and Abuse (SK CAP)

Apr 09, 2026
The Provincial Association of Transition Houses and Services of Saskatchewan (PATHS) is pleased to share the Saskatchewan Common Assessment Protocol for Intimate Partner Violence and Abuse (SK CAP).
This work was funded by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, Community Safety and Well-Being (November 2024- March 2026) under the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence distributed by Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE).The SK CAP was a collaborative effort between PATHS and project partners, Family Service Regina and Family Service Saskatoon. Development of the SK CAP involved consultation with survivors and professionals who work with people who experience and use intimate partner violence and abuse (IPVA).

The SK CAP includes Backgrounders, Practice Tools, and Practice Guides to assist generalist and IPVA specialist services in identifying people who are using or experiencing violence, evaluating risk, and supporting victims/survivors in planning for safety. These include:

  • Two screening questions for use by agencies across sectors
  • Saskatchewan Risk Indicator Checklist (RIC)
  • Saskatchewan Safety Planning Guide
  • Screening questions for use of IPVA
  • Backgrounders on intimate partner violence and abuse
  • and more
Visit skcap.ca to access:
