You may have heard about PATHS partnership with Saskatchewan SPCA and the Saskatchewan Horse Federation to develop a pilot program for horse safekeeping for survivors of intimate partner violence. PATHS’ research shows that like a dog or a cat, owning a horse is another barrier to leaving an abusive situation. The Horse Safekeeping project would help remove that barrier by allowing a survivor to board their horse for 30-60 days while they are in the process of leaving an abusive partner.
